Known for its deep commitment to land stewardship, refined luxury amenities, and timeless Southern charm, it seamlessly blends natural beauty with elevated living and is truly a hidden gem we have been enjoying for years.
Palmetto Bluff’s history is deeply rooted in the rich heritage of the South Carolina Lowcountry, with land that dates back centuries and has long been shaped by the May River and surrounding marshes. Once home to Native American tribes and later developed as working plantations, the area played a role in Southern agricultural and maritime history. Today, Palmetto Bluff honors its past through preserved landscapes, historic structures, and a continued respect for the land, blending its storied history seamlessly with modern Lowcountry living.
With 23 miles of riverfront access along the May River, charming village spaces, miles of scenic walking trails, and an atmosphere that invites you to truly slow down, Palmetto Bluff is an idyllic retreat. The Barn At May River
This masterfully designed modern barn perfectly showcases design features wholly reminiscent of the Sussex-style barns of the English countryside that inspired it. From the charred wood of its Japanese cedar Shou Sugi Ban exteriors, to the traditional timber frame construction of the side entry Cloister, the unmistakable English-style lych gate, and the Travertine “threshing floor’ entry, the inspiration born from a British field barn in Sussex is evident in every masterful detail.
Tucked alongside the scenic paths that wind their way along the waterfront, a stay at this one-of-a-kind vacation getaway delivers a singular opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the lowcountry landscape within the Palmetto Bluff resort. The Barn at May River enjoys a great location in Moreland Village and you'll enjoy easy access by golf cart or walking to all that Palmetto Bluff has to offer including restaurants, coffee shop, speakeasy, miles of waterfront, walking trails and more!
With it's private resort style pool, full-size washer/dryer, fireplace, screened in porch, fire pit, river and orchard view and massive chefs kitchen it is the perfect place to relax and unwind during your stay and we have booked the entire thing for you to enjoy.
